Melina Suzanne Bollinger, 60, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on August 15, 2021, in Buncombe County, N.C.

Suzie, as she was so lovingly known as, was born on August 23, 1960, in Iredell County, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Carroll Breman Bollinger and the late Carolyn Jo Holder Combs. In addition to her parents, Suzie was preceded in death by her sister, Tina Bollinger, and her grandmother, Chloa Lippard Willis.

Suzie graduated from Statesville High School and later began a job with the North Carolina DMV. She remained with the DMV until 1997, when she retired. Suzie was of the Baptist faith and attended Western Avenue Baptist Church.

Suzie leaves behind to cherish her memory a brother, Joe Bollinger (Peter Hillman) of Asheville, N.C.; an aunt, Tommy Holder; and cousins, Jamie Sweet and Delana Mederios. Also surviving Suzie are her step-sister, Jane Carol Summerall of Statesville; and step-mother, Linda Bollinger of Statesville.

A visitation for Suzie will be held on August 20, 2021, at Reavis Funeral Home of Statesville from 12 to 1 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at Reavis Funeral Home. Suzie will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery.
