Mr. Melvin “Snout” Patterson, 70, of 1308 Pearl Street, Statesville, N.C., died at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville on Saturday, October 16, 2021, following an extended illness. He was born in Iredell County on November 8, 1950, and was the son of Lucille Stevenson Patterson and the late Hoover Lee Patterson.
He attended Unity High School and prior to his retirement was employed by William T. Burnette. He loved painting and playing sports.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Lee Patterson, and his sister, Peggy Patterson.
In addition to his mother, Lucille, he leaves to remember and celebrate the blessings of his life his daughters, Lafredia P. (Bobby) Renwick of Statesville, Katana (Dev) Desai of Charlotte, and Melaysia (Brandon) Joyner and Malika Patterson, both of Statesville; three step-daughters, Deon Knox, Sherrell Satterfield and Terrell Satterfield, all of Statesville; his grandchildren, Breanna Redwick, Brevin Renwick, Braedyn Caldwell, Brinley Joyner, Brayson Joyner, Wynter Young, Bryce Desai and Johnnna Hill; one great grandchild, Mega Grant; one brother, Hoover Lee (Lisa) Patterson of Mooresville; three sisters, Deanna White, Katherine (Allen) McCurdy, both of Statesville, and Darlene (Gerry) Moore of Troutman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Even though it did not seem pleasurable then, there are many great memories of Working together in tobacco back in the day.
