Michael Dywane Chandler, son of Alice Holder Rhodes was born April 25, 1966, in Boone County, Mo. He departed his earthly life on Monday, August 23, 2021, at his residence in Statesville, N.C. God saw the road getting rough and harder to climb, so in his infinite wisdom, he called his son home from a life of labor to reward. His family and friends give thanks to the Almighty Savior for allowing us to share Michael’s life.
He was educated in the public schools in Sedgwick County and graduated from the Wichita High School, Class of 1984, in Wichita, Kan. After graduation, Michael enjoyed traveling to different parts of the country until he decided to make Statesville, N.C., his home. He was last employed with McDonald’s.
Never idle and always involved, Michael attended Emmanuel Temple Holiness Church in Catawba, N.C. In his leisure, Michael found joy in preparing culinary delights for his friends and family. With the art of cooking as a true passion and art for Michael, he enrolled and was about to complete his studies in the Culinary Program at Mitchell Community College in Statesville. Michael also enjoyed fishing and singing.
A legacy of love, devotion and fond memories are left with a loving mother, Alice Holder Rhodes of Statesville; two brothers: Donald (Lauren) Chandler of Wichita, Kan., and Ronald Chandler of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Sheila Chandler of Denver, Colo., and Pastor Regina (District Elder Christopher) Rhodes-Steele of Statesville; an aunt, Florene Wheeler of Versailles, Mo; and other relatives and many friends.
