Mr. Robert Franklin Peet Sr. of 1301 Fifth Street, Statesville, N.C., passed away on Mach 17, 2021, at Davis Regional Medical Hospital. He was born in Harmony, N.C., on March 7, 1946, and was the son of the late Frank Johnson and Clara Peet. He was married to Marian Louise Clark Peet and to this union two children were born, Robert F. Peet Jr. and Crystal Lachey Peet.
His wife Marian preceded him in death. A grandchild, Nicole Morrison; his grandmother, Della Holmes Peet (who raised him); and a sister, Sally Bell Johnson, also preceded him in death.
He attended Unity High School and was employed for eighteen years by the N.C. Department of Transportation prior to his retirement. He was a hardworking man and was a good man to all. He loved his car, truck, motorcycle and mowing grass. But most of all he loved playing and his family.
He leaves to remember and cherish his life his children, Robert F. Peet Jr., Crystal Lachey Peet, and Jack (Mary) Lyons, all of Statesville, Patrick (Kathy) Turner of Candor, N.C., Eloise (Gary) Roseboro of Statesville, Cassandra (Paris) Lucas of Norfolk, Va., and Derrick (Sharon) Murdock of Statesville; one sister, Frankcine Johnson of Statesville; three brothers, Ronald Peet of Maryland, David Johnson and Jesse Johnson, both of Statesville; a special friend of 23 years, Dawn Stevens of the home; 19 grandchildren, Chanda Morrison of Mooresville, N.C., who was raised in the home, Robert Franklin “Tre III” Peet, who was raised in the home, LaSean Tardd of Bronx, N.Y., Ariel Shamen Turner of Candor, N.C., Kinda S. Turner of Norfolk, Va., Inez Haley, Ray Murray Haley, Tiera Peet and Unshae Peet, all of Statesville, T’Metrius Peet of Mooresville, Rylie Peet of Hickory, N.C., Laela McCoy of Fayetteville, N.C., She’Ra Lyons of Statesville, Whitney Ray of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Hassan Lyons, Tiffany Lyons, Tyrrell Daniels, Derrick Murdock and Sarah Murdock, all of Statesville; 27 great grandchildren, including Amnad Sharpe of Mooresville, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Thursday, March 25, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, Statesville, N.C. Minister Kay Gillespie will officiate and Pastor Harrison Gillespie will eulogize with burial to follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
