Sharon LaVonne Pope, 57, earned her angel wings on Friday, November 5, 2021, at her residence. Born in Johnston County, N.C., on July 25, 1964, she was the daughter of Mary “Sue” Virginia Leech Pope and the late Ruben Thomas Pope.
Sharon graduated from South Iredell High School in 1982 and worked as a painter with home remodeling and also as a server with BoxCar Grille in Claremont, N.C.
She was a member of Clear Vision Missionary Baptist Church.
Sharon was a free spirit, a gypsy soul who loved fiercely and lived by her own rules. She loved spending time with her family, especially her beloved mother. Her daughters, her grandchildren and Scarlett were her world. She loved working in her flower gardens and her collections of trinkets, especially her fairies. She loved to draw, color and paint as well as express herself through her poetry. We will forever think of her when looking at the moon and stars.
In addition to her father, Sharon was also preceded in death by her beloved canine companion, Saebre.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Mary “Sue” Pope of Statesville, N.C.; daughters, Jordan Pataky (Walter) of Huntersville, N.C., and United States Air Force Master Sergeant Kierston Mair (Sheldon) of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren, Luka John Pataky, Laila Adare Mair and Neko Mair; two sisters, Margaret Pope Ford “Pete” (Greg) of Huntersville, N.C., and Ruby Carson (Vance) of Hamptonville, N.C.; her dog, Scarlett; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Clear Vision Missionary Baptist Church, 180 S. Lackey Street, Statesville, N.C., with Rev. Jason Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
