Theodore Horace “Ted” Odom, 87, of Statesville died Friday, October 22, 2021, at Gordon Hospice House.

He was born in McDowell County on May 23, 1934, to the late Horace Odom and Lucy Presnell Gregory.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Allen Odom, and a sister, Rosa O. Proctor.

Ted enjoyed playing cards, fishing, woodworking, and antiques. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 64 years, Hazel Bass Odom; two sons, Ricky Odom and Eddie Odom (Debbie); two daughters, Lisa Odom Buhrmaster (Marc) and Trena Odom Warren (Rodger); grandchildren, Johannah Saruse (Caleb), Marion Buhrmaster, Scarlett Jones, Zeke Odom (Mandy), TJ Weber, Hannah Warren, Matt Warren, Hunter Brooks, Chelsie Burns, and Carli Saruse; great-grandchildren, Titan Jones, whose father is Dereck Jones, and Emerson Odom. He is also survived by his fur baby, Daisy Duke.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Tim Glaser and Rev. Jerry Shoemaker officiating. The casket will not be open at the cemetery. For those who wish to view Mr. Odom this may be done Wednesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home prior to the Graveside Service.
