Mr. Timmy Christie, 65, son of Dottie Parker Strickland and the late Dennis McComb, was born April 26, 1956, in Cook County, Ill., and passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Emma Conner and Booker T. Parker; and two brothers, Reginald P. Strickland and Ronald E. Christie.
Timmy, who was affectionately known as “Tim,” loved playing the bass guitar and in his early years he played for the group, “The Parkerlettes.” Tim loved spending time with family and making people laugh, with his charismatic charm and his infectious smile. His favorite response to a greeting was “Fairly well, Partly cloudy.” Timmy loved helping others and was no stranger to anyone. He was a member of Greater Temple Holiness Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory of his life his loving mother, Dottie Strickland of Statesville, N.C.; four daughters, Onessia Hart of Forest City, N.C., LaShon Gaines of Gastonia, N.C., Liszey Ijames of Summerville, S.C., and LaGree “Nikki” Christie of Lithonia, Ga.; three brothers, Tony (Adrinenne) Christie, of Catawba, N.C., Donald W. (Constance) Christie of Chicgo, Ill., and John Lawson of Statesville; two sisters, Patricia L. (Edrick) Hough of Alabama and Regina L. Strickland of Winston-Salem, N.C.; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation and services are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary, 603 South Center Street, Statesville, NC 28677.
