Wilhelmina “Micki” Irene Rhodes was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She left this world on August 30, 2021, at age 92.
Micki was born to Edwin and Luemma Hooks on February 5, 1929, the second of four siblings, Evelyn, Ginny and Ted. After graduating from high school, she pursued a career at General Motors as a billing supervisor where she met her husband, Richard “Dick” Rhodes. Together, they raised their son Gary, who was their proudest accomplishment. Upon retiring at General Motors, Micki moved from Michigan to warm, sunny Florida, which she considered her favorite place on earth.
Micki is survived by her son Gary, daughter-in-law Pat and her brother Ted. She was “Grams” to her granddaughter Misty and husband George, and great-grandma to Cameron, Julia, Hannah and Grace.
Micki loved golfing, dancing, playing bingo and spending time outdoors. She particularly enjoyed bragging about her age, and even at the age of 92, still received numerous compliments about how she looked much younger than she was. She was generous, fun-loving, independent and quite a character, who had a sway in her step and loved to show off her youthful demeanor every chance she could. She will be missed beyond measure.
A celebration of Micki’s life will be held in the coming weeks.
