Alice Watts Mitchell, 86, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at her home surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on October 25, 1935, in Whiteville, N.C., to the late Homer Watts and Evelyn Edge Watts.

In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby P. Mitchell; brothers, Thurston (Jackie) Watts and Edward Watts; and sister, Doris McGarity.

Ms. Mitchell is survived by her three children, Rev. Rodney Mitchell (Anita), Tamera Mitchell, and Lesia Barkley (Stan); five grandchildren, Christa Norman (Mitch), Micah Mitchell (Linzi), Alicia Re (David), Nathan Barkley (Chelsie), and Sarah Tierney (Shane); nine great-grandchildren, Rhett, Claire, Charlie, Ella, Eli, Blakely, Riley, Theodore, and Collin; and two sisters, Brenda Bryan (Steve) and Reta Johnson (George).

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Peninsula Baptist Church, 687 Brawley School Road, Mooresville, NC 28117, with Rev. Rodney Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will immediately follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park.
