Brenda Joyce Johnson Templeton, 79, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Friday, December 23, 2022, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Mrs. Templeton was born October 21, 1943, in Iredell County, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Vaughn and Sarah Peacock Johnson. She was a graduate of Cool Spring High School, and on December 14, 1963, she married Robert Buel Templeton Jr., who survives. She was a former member of Faith Baptist Church in Statesville, and she loved reading her Bible and antiquing. She was the family genealogist.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is survived by one daughter, Vonda Joyce Templeton Marlow; one grandson, Chandler Vaughn Marlow; special niece, Stacy Johnson Miller; and numerous other family members.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Lee Johnson and Michael Vaughn Johnson, and one nephew, Eric Vaughn Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Troutman Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
