Ms. Carolyn Rebecca Brown was born in Iredell County on November 30, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Perman Brown and Esther Annie Allison Brown. She departed this life on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, following a brief illness.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Alonzo White.

Carolyn was a graduate of Unity High, and she attended Shaw University, majoring in Home Economics. She was employed by several Assisted Living Facilities in the area, before retiring from Davis Community Hospital and Iredell Memorial Hospital. Carolyn will be truly missed by her family and friends.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, her daughter, Emily B. (Jerome) Nesbit of Gastonia, N.C.; her grandson, Everette “Darnell” (Blair) Brown of Alamogordo, N.M.; two sisters, Willie B. Chambers and Tillie B. (Thomas) Murdock, both of Statesville; and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary at 12 noon. The family visit with family and friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12 noon.
