On Sunday, January 30, 2022, Danny Christopher Boovey moved peacefully to his heavenly home with his Lord and Savior and with his family by his side at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 13, 1949, in Iredell County, N.C., to Ivory “Joe” Boovey and Ruby Christopher Boovey, both of whom preceded him to heaven.
Danny retired from the Statesville Fire Department after many years serving as a fire fighter, an Engineer and Assistant Fire Marshal. After retiring from Statesville Fire Department, he then served in the Iredell County School System for ten years. Danny was a devoted member of Fairview Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and sitting on the beach with family.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Deborah K. Boovey; his daughter, Ashley Boovey Deal; Matthew Deal, his son through love; and his grandson, Parker Deal; along with his fur babies, Pepper and Odie. Also surviving are his stepson, Shane Allen Bates, and granddaughters, Alexis and Autumn Bates.
Services celebrating Danny’s life will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Fairview Baptist Church with Dr. Scott Eanes and Rev. Paul Hill officiating. A private burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The family requests that masks be worn at the service as Covid restrictions will be in place.
