Daphne Lynn Barnes, 60, of 627 Cherry Street, Statesville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. She was born in Catawba County to her late parents, Cleveland Anderson Barnes and Lula Mae Shuford. A sister, Darlene Barnes, also preceded her in death.
Daphne was employed with Asbury manufacturing company in Statesville as a weaver.
She leaves to cherish the memories of her life a son, Jalen Christian Barnes of Statesville; a daughter, Alana Danielle Blair Barnes of Statesville; three brothers, Cleveland (Roslyn) Barnes of Baltimore, Harry Barnes of Charlotte, and Tim Barnes; one sister, Denise Barnes of Statesville; two stepchildren, Justin Barnes and LaToya Barnes, both of Statesville; three step grandchildren, Zimer Walters, Nuya Turner, and Kendle Adams, all of Statesville; two best friends, Felicia Thrasher and Debbie Bennett; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends, including the Gaither family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022, at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary, Statesville, N.C. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Reverend Winifred Griffin will give the eulogy, and Carolyn Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Belmont cemetery.
