Dawn Rumple LeFaivre, 52, passed from this life into the arms of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Friday, February 2, 2022, at Iredell Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She died as a result of complications from CoVid-9.
She was born August 23, 1969, in Iredell County, N.C., the daughter of Donna B. Shoaf (Ray) and Steve M. Rumple (Libby). On August 29, 1998, she married the love of her life, John D. LeFaivre, who survives.
Dawn was a graduate of West Iredell High School and earned an Associate Degree in Business at Mitchell Community College. She was disability retired. She worked in many fields during her working years, but she enjoyed most her duties at Ex-Ray Expedite Inc. as the office manager and dispatcher, but best of all she loved her time at Highland Canine Training where she was not only the office manager but the photographer, “baby” sitter and novice trainer of beautiful “working” animals and rescue pups.
She was an active member of The Rock Church, where she served as the children’s teacher before the CoVid-19 pandemic forced her and her family to remain home as much as possible. She was an avid crafter, seamstress and knitter. There was nothing she couldn’t make.
In addition to her husband and parents, left to cherish her memory are a son, B. Wayne Slaughter (Samantha); two grandchildren, Ashlyn and Addison Slaughter; a brother, Scott D. Rumple (Joy); as well as two bonus sisters, Tresa S. Shaw, and Kristi S. Byers (Chad); a bonus brother, Vernon Shoaf Jr. (Rebecca); her mother-in-law, Sheila S. Morrow; and sisters-in-law, Stephanie N. LeFaivre and Jennifer L. Morrow. Additionally, she is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her service dog and best friend, Remington (Remi) and hangout buddy, Sarge, remain as well.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jessica B. Wilhelm; maternal grandparents, Reba D. Morrison and James A. Beam (Evelyn); and paternal grandparents, Mildred E. Rumple and Jasper M. Rumple.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Bills officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.

Big John: I worked with you at Onsrud for a few years. You and I got along really well, as we had a lot in common. I did not know Dawn, but you were always a good man, and I am sure she was a graceful and lovely lady who loved you unconditionally. I am sorrowful for you and your family, as she was much too young to have met her end. Hang tough, my old friend. I won’t try and offer words of encouragement, but I’ll be thinking of you.
Please tell Ashlyn that Mrs. James loves her and is so sorry about her grandmother. She was such a wonderful lady and I always enjoyed visiting with her when she would come pick Ashlyn up from school each day. She adored her grandbabies!
