Evelyn “Marie” Cook Decker, 51, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on December 31, 2021, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. She was born on August 23, 1970, in Iredell County, to the late Henry Harold and Diane Sloop Cook. Marie enjoyed reading and traveling, especially to the beach.

She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Eric Decker; son, Chase Alan Decker (Carina); sisters, Renee Smawley (Tracy) and Rhonda Cook Kee; and nieces and nephews, Joshua, Alyssa, Jamie, Joey, Jayson, Mckenna, Nicole, Shawn, Davina and Aazie.

A Celebration of Marie’s Life will be held on Thursday, January 6, at 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Chaplin Eddie Karriker officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service from 4 to 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
