Faye Blakely Hayes of Mooresville passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, with her loving family by her side. She was born December 30, 1946, in Greenville, S.C., to the late Ansel and Elizabeth Stansell Blakely.
Faye met Roger, her devoted husband of 53 years, at Erskine College. She was the beloved mother of Stephanie Dillon (Jonathan) and Laura Arnall (Justin), and proud grandmother of Charlie Dillon, Tyler Dillon, Georgia Arnall and Camille Arnall. She is also survived by her brother, Terry Blakely (Bennie), and sister-in-law Jan Lucas (George).
Faye was a devoted member of Davidson United Methodist Church and, previously, Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. She had a passion for serving others and volunteered her time driving Mobile Meals in Guilford County. She also served as a Guardian Ad Litem in Iredell County.
Faye enjoyed caring for her home, family and friends. She was a beautiful decorator, generous host and made the very best Peach Blackberry Crisp. As a farm girl at heart, gardening was one of her true passions, and she took pleasure in being an active member of the Lake Norman Garden Club. She cherished the outdoors and instilled in her family a deep appreciation for nature. She enjoyed travel, gatherings with friends, playing bridge and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
Throughout her long journey with cancer, she was an inspiration to others with her strength, grace, faith, dignity, and optimism. Faye always had a welcoming smile on her face, even during her toughest days. She was gracious to everyone and freely offered kind words (or a delicious casserole) to others. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
Deep gratitude to Dr. Timothy Kuo and his staff for their years of dedicated care, Carolina BioOncology and S. Mitchell Mack Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mooresville Christian Mission, P.O. Box 62, Mooresville, NC 28115 or S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House, 1325 Mecklenburg Highway, Mooresville, NC 28115.
A memorial is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, October 8, at Davidson United Methodist Church in Davidson, N.C. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
