Hazel Cartin Blackmon left this earthly life on Thursday, January 27, 2022. She was born on June 15, 1936, in Mooresville, N.C., to the late Mary Moore Cartin and P. J. Cartin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn William Blackmon; sisters, Julia Cartin Pruett, Elsie Cartin Overcash, Christine Cartin DeBose, and Mildred LaFevers; and brothers, James Alfred Cartin, and Brigdair Burdette Cartin.
Hazel graduated from Mooresville High School. She worked in electronics before her retirement. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and taught Sunday School and played the piano in children’s church.
Hazel was a dedicated volunteer at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory, Mooresville, N.C. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Hal Greene and Rev. David Klinedinst officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville, immediately following the service.
