James “Jimmy” William Brotherton, 72, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022. He was born on July 19, 1950, in Mooresville to the late Ottis and Jean Brotherton.
Jimmy was a graduate of Mooresville High School. He was a very proud U.S. Army Vietnam veteran serving with the 173 Airborne Brigade 1969-1970. Jimmy was retired from Duke Power Company. He loved to raise a big garden to share with family and friends, always liked to keep a neat yard, loved vacationing at the Outer Banks and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Robinson.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gail Coggins Brotherton; his very special daughter, Paula Jean Brotherton, and his little Canine buddy, Tanner. Also surviving are his brother, O.M. Brotherton and wife Irene of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 16, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Glenwood Memorial Park.
