John Joseph Petz, 69, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House. He was born on September 10, 1952, in New York, to the late John and Florence Barrett Petz.

Mr. Petz was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army Reserves. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, and boating with his grandchildren. John was an avid Notre Dame fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Denise Petz; children, John Richard Petz, Jennifer Perrrini and her husband Rafael Hernandez; John’s kids, Brady, Mia, Austin; Jennifer’s kids, BJ, Riley, Graycelyn, and Harlee; and brothers, Fran Petz and his wife Gina and Tim Petz and his wife Debbie; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Tony Velez; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Bert Sofield; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House, 1325 Mecklenburg Highway, Mooresville, NC 28115; or Back the Blue NC, P.O. Box 78, Franklinton, NC 27525.
