Kathy Ann Johnston Gandy, 64, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Iredell County on December 18, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Archie Landon Johnston and Noel Mahaffey Johnston.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Lawrence Gandy, on August 5, 2001, and brother-in-law, Scott Benfield on November 20, 2020.

Kathy was an avid reader, and she enjoyed sewing and crafting. She was a people person who always had a smile and a laugh that was contagious. She will be missed by all that knew her.

She graduated from North Iredell High School, attended Mitchell Community College and was a member of Lighthouse Independent Methodist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, William “Willie” Landon Gandy (Terry); daughter, April Michelle Gandy Williams (Kenny); grandchildren, William “Will” Christopher Gandy, Victoria Michelle, Ethan Landon Gandy and Zachary Lawrence; one great-grandchild, Desiree Dawn Williams; and her sister, Sandra Benfield.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, January 30, 2022, at 3 p.m. at Barker’s Grove Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Michael Kilpatrick and Rev. Joey Campbell officiating.
