Leroy Alexander Messick, 79, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on March 25, 2022, at Gordon Hospice House. Leroy was born on August 13, 1943, in Iredell County, N.C., to Otis Robert and Florence Alma Pipin Messick.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lavonnie B. Messick; and his siblings, Alice Joann Shoemaker, Melvin Robert Messick, and Ruby Colene Small.

He is survived by his daughter, Sarah C. Messick; sister-in-law, Ann Messick; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Kathy Bunton; numerous nieces and nephews; and her furry grandchild, Coco.

Leroy was well loved by the local community, and he was a familiar face at Spainhours and First Rx Pharmacy. He was also a member of Bristol Drive Baptist Church. Family was very important to Leroy, and he was much loved in return.

A graveside service will be held Friday, April 1, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gordon Hospice House and the family of Leroy.
