Lexine Allen White went to her eternal home on Thursday, October 13, 2022. Born on March 18, 1932, and raised in Hiddenite, N.C., Lexine was the daughter of Lex Marsh Allen and Kate Hendren Allen.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; her brother, James Allen; her sister, Emma Kate Gupton; and her granddaughter, Amber Davis.
Lexine is survived by her husband, Lynn White; her sister, Jerry Sprinkle; her son, Tim White; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Bill Moore; her grandchildren, Jennifer White, Brandon White, Adrianne and Adam Blackwelder, and Heather and Derek Davis; and her nine great-grandchildren, Noah, Nora, and Reid Davis, Braelyn, Emmalyn, and Grady Blackwelder, and Will, Kylie, and Reese Jacobs.
Lexine was married to the love of her life for 70 years. She and Lynn had known one another since primary school and in the tenth grade, Lynn was so convinced that they would be married that he wrote a note in her yearbook that said “I am going to marry you one day.” A year into nursing school for Lexine and shortly before Lynn joined the Navy, they were married. Over the years, their marriage has been an incredible example to everyone that knows them. Lexine continued to peruse her calling in healthcare and worked as a public health nurse for 34 years.
She was the beloved matriarch of her family and took great pride in the ones she loved. She was happiest when she was taking care of everyone else. From feeding everyone at regular Sunday lunches to organizing the family’s annual beach trips, she was our constant. At the drop of a hat, she and Lynn would show up to help with the great grandkids. No matter where you were, you had confidence knowing she was just a phone call away — whether it was when you needed to know which ingredient to substitute in a recipe or because someone was running a fever or had a sore throat, or you just needed sound advice — though she was not one to mince words or hold back from telling you exactly what she thought. Lexine never ended a conversation without telling you how much she loved you.
Most important was Lexine’s love for her Savior. Because of this love and her relationship with Jesus, we know that as soon as she took her last breath here on Earth, she was in His presence. As hard as it is to know our Earthly time together has come to an end, our family takes comfort knowing that we will see her again one day.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 16, at 2 p.m. at Western Avenue Baptist Church, with a service following at 3 p.m.
Troutman Funeral Home is serving the family.
So sorry for your loss. I worked at the Health Dept. many years ago. Lexine always had a smile & some piece of wisdom (sometimes humorous) to share. My prayers are with you all.
Lynn & family: So sorry to read about Lexine’s passing. I am out of town & have been for two weeks. Just read about it in the paper this morning. Hope to talk to you soon.
