Mamie Parker Nicholson, 93, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at her home. Born on February 27, 1929, in Iredell County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Parker and Luzene Mitchell Parker.

Mamie was a life-long member of Shiltoh Presbyterian Church in Statesville. Her family describes her as a loving woman who had a “dry sense of humor.” She had a passion to read and enjoyed reading the newspaper. She loved and cherished her family, especially spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her foster parents, Walter and Augusta Sherrill; and her two brothers, James Parker and Thomas Parker.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 68 years, Hugh Howard Nicholson; sons, Stephen Nicholson and his wife Elaine, Jeffrey Nicholson and his wife Kim, and Howard Nicholson and his wife Pam; her seven grandchildren; and her six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Shiloh Presbyterian Church (Lewis Ferry Road, Statesville). Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. at the church. A private burial will be held at Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
