Nathila Malcolm Cook, 92, of Statesville, N.C., passed away at Gordon Hospice House on Sunday, February 6, 2022. Ms. Cook was born on September 6, 1929, to the late Adam Washington Malcolm and Willie Lee Hoover Malcolm in Rowan County, N.C.
Nathila was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Herman Cook Sr.; son-in-law, Richard Mayberry; brothers, Junior Malcolm (Willine), Dean Malcolm (Ruby), Kenneth Malcolm (Shelby), and Willard Malcolm; sisters, Jane Ervin (Howard), and Betty Bass (Doc); and brother-in-law; Avery Luffman.
Ms. Cook leaves behind a large family, including sons, Dennis Cook, and George Cook; daughters, Patsy Allen, and Pamela Mayberry (Richard); grandchildren, Roger Allen, Shane Mayberry (Regina), Candace Mayberry, Jayme Cook, and Amanda Harley (Matt); great-grandchildren, Colby Thomas, Gracie Smith, Tommy Cartlege, Christian Harley, Cassie Harley, Levi Mayberry, Mary Mayberry, Christopher Hinson, and Nicholas Hinson; great-great grandchildren, Adilynn Thomas, and Kaiden Thomas; and sisters, Annie Luffman, and Brenda Murdock (Charles).
A loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, Nathila will be greatly missed.
A public visitation will be held Friday, February 11, 2022, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home chapel at 12 noon with burial to follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
