Nell Marlin McNeely Sherrill, 99, of Sherrills Ford, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at The Citadel of Mooresville. She was born June 9, 1923, to the late Lawrence and Sarah (Lambert) McNeely .

Nell loved to work in her flower garden. She was a long-time member of Sherrills Ford Presbyterian Church. She was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Sherrill in 1948. They shared 55 years together until Bob’s passing in 2003.

In addition to her parents, Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Sherrill; and four siblings, Hilda McNeely, Robert “Mack” McNeely, L.C. McNeely, and Jeanette McCoy.

Nell is survived by nieces, Susy Wright, Linda Wilhelm, and Marlene Pethel; and nephew, Dale McCoy. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Sue Lutz of Terrell, N.C.; nephews, Alec Sherrill and family of Wilson, N.C., Michael Sherrill and family of Asheboro, N.C., Joel Heavner and family of Lincolnton, N.C.; and nieces, Lisa Brady and family of Sherrills Ford, and Lou Ann Huffman and family of Denver, N.C.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 11, from 2 to 3 p.m. with a service following at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Russ Reighley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Park in Statesville.
