Raquel Maria Garcia, 39, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Raquel leaves behind a large and loving family, including her husband, Pedro Hernandez; children, Huriel Solis, Melissa Solis, Vanessa Solis, Katy Solis, Brittany Hernandez, and Anthony Hernandez; brother, Ofelio Garcia; sisters, Antonia Garcia, Juanita Garcia, Christina Anselmo, and Blanquita Garcia; and several nieces and nephews.

Raquel was a member at St. Philip Apostle Catholic Church. She grew up playing volleyball before moving to the U.S. She enjoyed spending time with her children and family. Raquel worked really hard to give the best education to her children.

A public visitation will be held Friday, June 24, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the church or to Hospice of Iredell.
