Raymond Douglas Waddell, 84, of Foy Lane, Statesville, N.C., passed away at his home on Sunday, May 15, 2022.

Raymond was born in Spartanburg, S.C., on July 9, 1937, to Ralph Burdett Waddell and Agnes Ruth Wyatt. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Statesville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sara McGirt Waddell; a brother, Lloyd Waddell; and a step-daughter, Kimberlee Neaves.

Surviving are his wife Phyllis; three children, Lori Hoffa and husband DeLon of Conover, N.C., Douglas Waddell of Newton, N.C., and Star Waddell of Draper, Utah; a step-son, Ryan Neaves and wife Carmen of Lindor, N.C.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth Waddell and wife Betty of Cleveland, S.C., and Reginald and wife Faye of Concord, N.C.; and one sister, Lynda Colman and husband Frank of Dacula, Ga.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the 2 p.m. service on Thursday, May 19, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 426 Jane Sowers Road in Statesville. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery, 23 S. Brady Avenue, Newton, N.C.
