Mrs. Ruth Alexandria Fischer Thompson, 96, of Mt. Ulla, N.C., passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House following a period of declining health.

Ruth was born on September 28, 1925, in New York City, N.Y., to the late John and Martina Shub Fischer.

Mrs. Thompson was a member of Thyatira Presbyterian Church, Salisbury. Ruth worked as a Registered Nurse after attending the Lowrance School of Nursing until her retirement and later volunteered with Rowan Helping Ministries. She enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clem Thompson; sons Thad Thompson and Mark Thompson; and daughter, Amy Thompson.

Survivors include her grandchildren Brittany Thompson and Jeremy Thompson, and great granddaughter Kendall Brown. Also surviving is her faithful fur baby Dezi.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Thyatira Presbyterian Church, Salisbury with the Rev. David Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
