Stanley “Prune” Alphonso Avery, 72, of Statesville, N.C., departed this life on January 19, 2022, at his home. He was born January 10, 1950, in Rowan County to the late Robert Avery and Willie Ett Griffin Darty.
Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Alice Faye Green Avery; his stepfather, Archie (Marylin) Darty; one son, Stanley Lamont Avery of Statesville; one daughter, Joell’e (Kelly) Brawley of Statesville; four grandchildren, Jalen Robinson of Greensboro, and Justice Robinson, Dorreco Davis Sr. and Kayla Avery of Statesville; two great-grandchildren, Mason Avery Robinson and Dorreco Davis Jr. of Statesville; goddaughter, Autumn Ramsey of Riverdale, Ga.; brother, Robert Glenn Avery of Statesville; nephew, Sherrod Avery; niece Kristy (Jeffery) Graham of Charlotte; brother-in-law, John (Luvenia) Green of Statesville; sisters-in-law Gail Green of Statesville, and Carolyn Green of Lindon, N.J.; nieces, Detra, Ebony and Brandi Green of Statesville; great aunts, Beleuah Mack and Thelma Jones; and a loving amount of special cousins, Diane Holmes of Winston-Salem; and special friends, William Minor of High Point, Leon Garner, and Walter Bellamy of Statesville.
A graveside service will be conducted Monday, January 24, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Logan Presbyterian Church. Pastor Kaye Ziglar will officiate. The family will receive friends 1:30 to 2 p.m. before the service.
