Stephen Edward Nantz, 48, of Mooresville, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, following a valiant struggle with cancer.
Stephen was born, March 27, 1974, in Iredell County the son of John and Mary Thorne Nantz. He graduated from North Iredell High School and UNC-Charlotte with a degree in Business Administration. He was the former new home operations manager with Lakemist Homes of Mooresville. On September 23, 2011, Stephen married the love of his life, Alyssa Somers Nantz. He enjoyed boating on Lake Norman and playing golf. He was a diehard Carolina Tarheels fan, a skilled craftsman, and Master Builder with Ryan Homes. He loved travelling with his family; he especially loved travelling to their “happy place”, Hawaii, with Alyssa.
Those left to cherish the memory of Stephen include his wife, Alyssa; his parents, John and Mary; his sister, Melanie Taylor (David); his niece, Riley Elizabeth Taylor; his aunt, Shirley Thorne; his father-in-law, Jerry Somers; his sisters-in-law, Jennie Somers Daniels (Mike), and Shelda Somers-Liles (Eddie), and brother-in-law, Chris Somers (Elaine); his beloved nieces and nephews, Jarrett, Chelsea, Alycen Marie and Chloe Isabelle Daniels, Brennan and Brooke Daniels, Braeden, Hayleigh, and Latham Marie Daniels, Casey and Anna Liles, Madison Liles and Liam James Liles, and Preston Young Somers.
A funeral to celebrate the life of Stephen Nantz will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022, at Beulah Baptist Church, with the Rev. Brian Burgess officiating. Burial will be at Society Baptist Church Cemetery. They family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Active pall bearers will be Jarrett Daniels, Brennan Daniels, Braeden Daniels, Casey Liles, Paxton Hix and Lee Greer.
Those wishing to make memorials are asked to consider the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
