Wiley Dwight Wallace, 86, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Friday, August 5, 2022, at the VA Hospital in Salisbury. He was born in Iredell County on November 24, 1936, the son of the late Andrew Gaston Wallace and Viola Denny Wallace.

Mr. Wallace was a graduate of Union Grove High School and was retired after 39 years of faithful service to the Statesville Record & Landmark in the Printing Department. On June 7, 1958, he married Sylvia JoAnn Bustle Wallace; together they shared 64 years of marriage. He served in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, Dwight was proceeded in death by his brother, Henry Wallace (Connie); son, Andy Charles Wallace; and two sisters, Ruth Brown (John), and Nellie Myers (Bill); and brother-in-law, Bill Cashatt.

Those left to cherish Mr. Wallaces’ memory include his wife Sylvia JoAnn Wallace; his daughter, Susan W. McNeely (Dean); sister, Juanita Cashatt; son, Darin Dwight Wallace (Tanya); and his grandchildren, Jonathan McNeely and Daniel McNeely.

The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 1 to 2 p.m. at South River Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at South River Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Thompson and Reverend Robert Livingston officiating.

Memorials can be made to South River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Purple Heart Homes or any Hospice organization.
