Angel Martinez Castaneda, 60, of Statesville, N.C., died Friday, March 24, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born in Mexico to the late Emigdio Martinez Renteria and Diega Castaneda Espinoza. He was also preceded in death by a son, Sergio Reyes.

Angel worked for Betco. He loved fishing, music, dancing, and especially singing. Angel was a people person and made friends easily. More than anything, he loved his family and spending time with them.

Those left to cherish his memory include three children, Cristina Martinez, Noe Martinez, and Luis David Martinez; siblings, Apolinar Martinez Castaneda, Vincenta Martinez, Platon Martinez, Guadalupe Martinez, Victor Manuel, Eulalio Martinez Castaneda, Leonardo Martinez Castaneda, Abel Martinez Castaneda, Rosalina Martinez Castaneda, Omar Martinez Castaneda, Sister-in-law, and Virgilia Martinez Castaneda, and numerous nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, March 28, at 2 p.m. at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will greet friends following the service. He will then be sent to Chicago for further services and burial.
