April Leron Caldwell, 58, of Statesville, N.C., died Tuesday, March 21, 2023. She was born in Guilford County on April 19, 1964, to the late Emmanuel Caldwell and Betty Jean Maddox Caldwell. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Terry Caldwell.

April worked as a caregiver. She had a big heart and loved people. She never met a stranger and loved giving everyone she met nicknames. She loved sewing, taking walks, listening to gospel music, reading her Bible, going to the beach, working with her plants, animals, and doing crossword puzzles.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Merio Caldwell (Shameka Caldwell) and Terry Kelly (Cynthis Hawthorne); 11 grandchildren, Kha-Neil, Keyontae, Rashad, Namiah, A’miracle, Destin, Je’Derion, Dallas, Davion, Alexis, and Aaliyah; four brothers, Aaron Caldwell, Julius Caldwell, Emmanuel Caldwell, and Dwayne Caldwell; two sisters, Joyce Ann Caldwell, and Doris Caldwell; her precious fur baby, Scrappy ”Boopie,” and many other family members.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, March 26, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Darnell officiating.
