Arthur Marquis “Mack” Harris was born in Henderson, N.C., on August 9, 1961, to Stella Norwood and the late Waverly McKinley Harris. He departed this life on August 27, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, N.C. where he lived.

At an early age, he joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Henderson. After high school he moved to Roxboro, N.C., where he lived for many years. There he met and married his wife Pearline, who has been by his side for 40 years. Then they moved to her hometown of Statesville, where he first began working at Sky Packing Material. From there he went to trucking school and began to drive trucks. He then bought his own truck and started his own business and traveled the world for about 10 years. He was a truck driver and a mechanic like his father. He loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his family and Lacey Harris (his dog). He also loved family gatherings, fishing, and church events.

He was preceded in death by his father, Waverly McKinley Harris, his grandmother and grandfather, Waverly and Iola Harris, his grandmother, Ruth Hamlett, and his grandson, Trevant Coleman.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Pearline Harris; his mother, Stella Norwood; three sons, Desmond Harris, Jermail Morrison, and Corry Morrison (Kimberly); nine grandchildren, Yasmine Smith, Manoveni Tucker, Desmond Olds, Zhaire Gillespie, Jermail Morrison Jr., Vanessa Thomas, Korry Morrison, Camryn Morrison, and Nina Morrison; two brothers, John Daniels (Sharlene) of Matthews, N.C., and James Daniels of Henderson, N.C.; four sisters, America Harris of Durham, N.C., Sophia Jefferson (William) of Henderson, N.C., Shirley Ann Banks of Fayetteville, N.C., and Marian Spencer (Earl) of Louisburg, N.C.; four aunts and one uncle of Henderson, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and his very special friend, his dog, Lacey.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church, Statesville, N.C. Apostle L. Kems will be officiating the service. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
