Bettie Marie Bell Gatton, 91, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, at her home. Born on May 21, 1932, in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Fletch Bell and Mary Church Bell.

Bettie was a longtime member of Mt. Sinai Evangelical Methodist Church. She was a simple woman who loved her Lord and Savior. In addition to her parents, Fletch and Mary Bell, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jack Gatton; sisters, Lucille Johnson, Dot Mitchell, Margaret Bell, and Catherine Bell; and brothers, Ralph Bell and Ray Bell.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sisters, Ruby Frazier and Carol Holdsclaw; brother LW Bell and his wife Margaret; her special niece and loving caregiver, Mary Ann Frazier; numerous other nieces and nephews; and her other loving caregivers, Kathleen Ellis, Corinne Berardi, and Lillian Lackey.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Mt. Sinai Evangelical Methodist Church with Reverend David Kimball officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at the church.

A graveside service will follow the services in Mt. Sinai Evangelical Methodist Church Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Sinai Evangelical Methodist Church, 300 Fairmount Rd., Statesville, NC 28625.
