Catherine Dobbins, 70, of Statesville, N.C., died Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born in Iredell County on August 14, 1953, to Julia Jane Dobbins and the late Albert Gaines.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Dobbins; and a grandson, Ralph Franklin Bellamy.

Catherine loved people and never met a stranger. She would open her door to anyone and would feed them as well. She loved playing cards and cooking.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Anthony Dobbins and Donneail Dobbins; three daughters, Vandetta Dobbins, Sheila Dobbins, and Rontisha Dobbins; six grandchildren, William Dobbins, Simone Gregory, Dwight Mumford Jr., Tijayanna Dobbins, Jashawn Dobbins, and Brianna Dobbins; five great-grandchildren, Marlee Mumford, Princeton Mumford, Aladdin Turner, Michael Burch, and Kehlani Phifer; two brothers, John Dobbins (Gwen) and Kenneth Dobbins (Beverly); and three sisters, Betty Edwards (WC), Lisa Hunter (Pete) and Barbara Turner.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 3 p.m. at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Lewis officiating. The family will visit with friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
