Cathey Weddington Sechler, 71, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House Aldersgate in Charlotte, N.C. She was born May 3, 1952, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late Howard Caldwell Weddington and Edith Davis Weddington.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, James Richard Sechler, and a daughter, Cathey Ann Sechler.

Cathey was a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed camping, day trips, antiques, and flea markets. She enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ in China Grove, N.C.

Cathey is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Nicholson, and her husband John; and grandson, Jacob John Nicholson.

Visitation for family and friends will be on July 6 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ with Rev. James Simonds officiating. A committal service will be held after the visitation in Green Lawn Cemetery in China Grove, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, 1415 S. Main Street, China Grove, NC 28023.
