Ruth Charleen Alexander Gilbert, 90, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at Gordon Hospice House, in Statesville, N.C. She was born on September 17, 1933, in Mooresville, N.C., to Victor Ralph Alexander and Addie Mae Woods.

Charleen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl W. Gilbert Sr.; nine brothers and sisters; and son-in-law, Arthur Evans.

She is survived by her children, Carl W. Gilbert Jr. (Branda) and Bridget Evans; grandchildren, Carl W. Gilbert III, Holly Renee Gilbert, and Jesse Garcia; and great grandchildren, Samantha and Caroline Gilbert.

Charleen graduated from Belmont High School, and retired from Thorlo, where she worked for over 30 years. She was also a member of Cochran Street Bible Church.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, in Statesville.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, in Mt. Holly, N.C., with Pastor James Lewis officiating.
