Curtis Steven Sparks, 65, of Statesville, N.C., passed away February 9, 2023, at Mountain Valley Hospice in Dobson, N.C., after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born on May 26, 1957, to Jack Church Sparks and Barbara Parks Sparks of Kernersville, N.C.
Curtis was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Sparks; his father-in-law, Dennis Gryder; and his mother-in-law, Barbara Gryder.
Those left to cherish his memory are his father, Jack Sparks; his wife, Kelly Sparks; sons, Dylan Sparks and Alan Sparks (Tavia); grandchildren, Noah Sparks, Sean Sparks, and Tiara Sparks; great-grandchild, Alaiya Sparks; brother-in-law, Mark Gryder; and many extended family and friends.
Curtis graduated from Statesville Senior High School. He attended Mitchell Community College. He was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. until his illness.
Curtis loved his family. He enjoyed going to the beach and to the mountains. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Services will be held Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation is from 2 until 3 p.m., with a service to follow. Burial will be after the service at Oakwood Cemetery. Pastor Chris Lakey will be officiating.
