Derera Shonte Chambers, 41, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on May 1, 2023, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Derera was born on July 29, 1981, to Phillip Chambers and Tracy Satterfield Lazenby.

Derera was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Ruby Ann Satterfield; great grandfather, Isiah Satterfield; grandmother, Gloria Chambers; and grandfather, Avery Knox.

Derera is survived by his parents, Phillip Chambers and Tracy (Bobby) Lazenby; brother, Phillip (Bethany) Tucker; sisters, Kenyana Chambers and Phyllis Renee Scott; grandmother, Ruby Connor; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Derera graduated from Statesville High School and attended Mitchell College. He enjoyed welding, car detailing, football, and basketball.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 1 to 1:30 p.m. at True Vine Church. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m.
