Diane Scothorn Kennedy, 63, of Statesville, N.C., peacefully passed from earth into eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, December 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 7, 1960, in Pasadena, Calif., to Robert Vernon and Rita Shelia Dice.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kennedy; as well as her sister, Karen Dice.
Unique and beautiful in every way, Diane was always kind and caring. She would brighten every room she stepped into with her happy warmth. She was constantly encouraging and uplifting in times of need and ever ready with a listening ear. She was full of good humor and fun and possessed a stimulating sharp wit. She was an accomplished guitarist and singer who used her gifts to serve the Lord in worship throughout her adult life. She adored her beloved pet birds and dogs that were her companions even to her last days. There is no one like her in the world, and she will be greatly missed.
Diane leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. Her dearest passion was for the Lord, Jesus Christ. She shared her faith through living a life dedicated to fostering a personal relationship with her Savior. Her love washed over every member of her family and her adoration of her children and grandchildren was unmatched as she treated each of them like precious treasures. Though she faced many struggles, she persevered knowing the Lord was with her and her heavenly prize lay ahead.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends and her hope, even in her last moments, is to see each of them again in heaven one day when it’s their time. She is survived by her son Matthew Smith, daughter Erin and husband Andrew Knapp, grandson Tyler Smith, grandson Jeremiah Sparks, grandson Joshua Sparks, granddaughter Tabitha Sparks, granddaughter Emily Knapp, grandson Levi Knapp, grandson Marcus Knapp, sister Sue Dice Roberts, sister Debbie and husband David Santos, and a host of other relatives, great grandson, nieces, nephews, and friends.
