Doris Mae “Duck” Chapman, who was born November 26, 1928, in Statesville, N.C., passed away at home in her favorite easy chair in Statesville on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends.

We will celebrate her Grand Life at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023, at Calvary Community Church, 334 Oakland Avenue, Statesville, N.C. Her service will be conducted by Brother Jeff Coley and Pastor Ron Young from Morning Star Baptist.

In addition to her parents, Carl Herman Chapman Sr. and Esther Cora Salmons, Duck was preceded in death by her son and the Apple of Her Eye, Denny (Steve David) Chapman; and siblings, Bud (Carl H.), Punch (Fred), Snake/Birdy (Russell) Chapman and Sissy (Ann Chapman Roberts) with her sole surving sibling being her sister Ginger (Virginia Fewell) of Climax, Ga.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory and to live up to her expectations her granddaughter, Sugar Plum (Carla Chapman), and her main Great Grandson, Boy Baby (Cody Chapman); grandaughters, Kelly Stewart and Kacey Chapman; six other Great Grandchildren; nephews/nieces, specifically Jinks, Terry, and Jane; and cousins.

In lieu of the Rose Buds (supposedly if we watch them we’ll know she’s there), please donate to your favorite charity, do a good deed for someone less fortunate, hug your loved ones tighter and always strive to be a little kinder. Thanks to everyone for all your love, light, prayers and well thoughts! We feel them!
