Dorothy Louise Morrison Summers, 92, of Statesville, N.C., passed away, Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the Hospice House of Olathe, Kan., following a period of declining health.
Mrs. Summers was born in Iredell County, N.C., on March 11, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Charles Glenn Morrison and Lucy Sipes Morrison. She was married to the late James Henry Summers on October 31, 1953.
She was also preceded in death by her son, James Wesley Summers. Deceased siblings and spouses include Albert Ray (Ada) Morrison, Kenneth Clyde (Doretha) Morrison, William Eugene Morrison, and Charles Lynn Morrison.
She was a life-long member of New Amity ARP Church and was currently the oldest woman of the church. She was a graduate of Scotts High School in Scotts, N.C., in the Class of 1949, and Charlotte Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1952.
Her surviving children are C. Michael Summers (Debbie) of Blue Springs, Mo., and Robert H. Summers (Tracy) of Olathe, Kan.; grandchildren, Michael D.J. Summers, Anthony G. Summers, C. Christopher Summers, Elijah H. Summers, Amanda Christine S. Westcott, Josey Bree Summers, Andi Elisabeth Summers; and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, JoAnn M. Payne (Legrand); and sisters-in-law, Nancy Morrison and Rose Morrison; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 10 a.m. New Amity ARP Church, 150 Logan New Amity Church Road, Statesville, N.C. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the church after the service in the fellowship hall.
