Mrs. Edith Mae Williams Davidson, 90, was born in Iredell County on March 3, 1933, to the late Walter Allen Williams and Nettie Patterson Williams. She departed this life on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
Edith graduated from Unity High School and prior to her retirement was employed as a seamstress at Troutman Shirt Company. She was a member of Gray’s Chapel Church of Christ and was affectionately known as “Mae” by her family and friends. She loved plants and gardening, cooking, and going to yard sales and flea markets.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Davidson; two sisters, Ruby Williams Merritt and Josephine Carlin; and a brother, Harvey Allen Williams.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life four sons, Fredrick (Alice) Williams and Rhonald Davidson, both of Statesville, Erwin Davidson (Kathy) of Mocksville, and Terence Davidson (Katrina) of Lexington, N.C.; one daughter, Cheryl Rodriguez of California; one sister, Retha Smith of Richmond, Va.; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren, Adelene Miller and Jackson Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Gray’s Chapel United Church of Christ at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the church.
