Edna Kathleen Robinette Coates, 96, formerly of Statesville, N.C., died Thursday, December 14, 2023, at The Greens of Hickory.

She was born on December 30, 1926, to the late Lawson Wheeler Robinette and Vera Opal Adams Robinette. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Edward Coates and Wayne Coates.

Edna was a member of Calvary Community Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member as long as her health allowed. She was a people person and never met a stranger. Edna was a strong woman with the kindest heart you could imagine. Her greatest accomplishment in life was being a wonderful mother and was completely devoted to her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Jackie Childers (Bryan); a grandson, Hunter Bryce Johnson (Aliece); two sisters, Martha Lambert and Peggy Link; and a special niece, Alma Rogers.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Chapel with Jeff Coley officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 12 until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service.
