Ellen Louise Johnson Beckham, 82, of Statesville, N.C., passed away April 17, 2023, at her home after an extended illness. Ellen was born March 10, 1941, in Iredell County to the late James Edgar “Ed” Johnson and Eva Mencer Johnson.

Ellen was a member of Bright Light Baptist Church, a CNA, and a farmer.

In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Edward Beckham; one daughter, Mary Louise Pierce; one son, William Thomas Beckham; four brothers, Thomas Johnson, Harold Johnson, James Johnson, and Ray Johnson; and three sisters Evelyn Jarret, Mable Cape, and Pauline Stroud.

Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Charles Edward Beckham Sr. and wife Nancy of Statesville; six grandsons, Charles Beckham Jr., Clinton Beckham, Nathan Beckham, who is also her loving caregiver, Marvin Pearce Mitchell, and Michael Beckham; and one granddaughter, Montana Moore.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Stony Point Cemetery, 231 Ruritan Park Road, Stony Point, NC 28678. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 19, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home, 158 Stony Point School Road, Stony Point, NC 28678.
