Evelyn Hayes Campbell, 93, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Gordon Hospice House.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Point Pleasant, N.J., on March 1, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Max F. and Mary E. Drye Hayes. Evelyn attended Statesville City Schools, and in 1949 she married her beloved husband Wade Campbell. The Campbells shared more than 75 years of marriage. As her family said of their union, “it was unending love.” Evelyn retired from Woolworths, but also worked for Hayes Insurance and Belk Department Store. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish the memory of Mrs. Campbell include her sons, Danny (Nancy) Campbell, Rick (Susan) Campbell, and Mark (Debbie) Campbell; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life for Mrs. Campbell will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Temple Baptist Church, Pastor Randy Mitchell will officiate. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
