Everett E. Elliott, 87, of Statesville, N.C., passed on February 17, 2023, while receiving incredible and loving care at Gordon Hospice House. He was born on March 5, 1935, in Iredell County, N.C., and was the son of the late Roy and Ruby Elliott.
Everett was a kind man full of humor. During his final days, he focused on affirming his love and gratitude for his friends and family. He was a man of great compassion for others and freely expressed his love.
He instilled hard work and dedication into his family values. He was employed by Southern Screw for over 30 years and worked well beyond his retirement years. He was a man on the move, active and innovative; he found ways to keep his “working spirit” going until his final days.
Preceding him in death was his wife of over 40 years, Shirley Beckham Elliott, and his wife of over 20 years, Mildred Bradford Elliott; two sisters, Sis Estes and Shirley Bustle; three brothers, Ervin, Harold, and Charles Elliott; and a son-in-law James Stanley.
Continuing his legacy are his daughter, Sandra Stanley; three grandchildren, Pam Stanley (Chuck), Crystal Wood (Ezekiel “Main Man”), and Brian Stanley; three great-grandchildren, Kyndal Wood, Seth Wood, and Connor Vowels; and a great-great-grandchild, Kade Patterson. Also surviving are his brothers, Kutteh and Benny Ray Elliott, and Vallie Ingram (Ray), and his brother-in-law and friend Gary Bradford (Peggy). He also had a host of nieces, nephews, and friends he adored.
Finally, to his brothers and sisters in Christ at Calvary Baptist Church, thank you for showering him with song and prayers and bringing the church to him during his final moments.
Everett will lie in state on Friday, February 24, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Sandy: I was sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. If you remember I lived on Reid Street a few houses away from y’all. My second job as a teenager was working for “BIG E” at the Smile Station. Everett was such a good person to me and everyone. I learned so much from Everett — not only about cars but also character. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Godspeed, “BIG E.”
Sandy, I just found out about your Dad’s passing. Everett was a wonderful and kind man that loved the Lord. I know you will miss him greatly, but I rejoice with you in his home going to see to his Savior and relatives that have went before him. Love and prayers.
