Norris Gale Morrison, 86, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023, in Salisbury, N.C. He was born on March 22, 1937, in Statesville, N.C. He was the son of O.B. and Carrie Morrison. He married Elaine Wilson on March 25, 1961.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Barry Morrison; and his sister, Elaine Campbell (Charles).

Gale is survived by his wife, Elaine; his children, Anita Kunkle (Jimmy), and Brad Morrison (Lydia); his grandchildren, Brandon Kunkle (Brittany), Adam Kunkle (Cassidy), Jackson Morrison, and Isabella Morrison; his great-grandchildren, Emily Kunkle and Owen Kunkle; his brothers, Albert Morrison (Ruby), Wayne Morrison (JoAnn), Norman Morrison, and Joe Morrison (Karan); and his sisters, Imogene Stroud (Jim), and Marlene Morrison.

He graduated from Scotts High School in 1955 and was a member of Damascus Baptist Church.

Gale served in both the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and the N.C. Army National Guard. He was a truck driver for Carolina Freight Carriers for over 40 years. He also drove for Fredrickson Motor Line, and retired from Arkansas Best Freight.

Gale loved all his family and would help anyone who needed a helping hand. He was a kind man who loved spending time with family and friends, and who also enjoyed fishing and hunting. After Gale retired, he would grow over 100 watermelons, cucumbers, etc., to give to others. After retirement, he and Elaine spent many years traveling throughout the country.

Visitation will be held at Damascus Baptist Church, on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at 2 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Reverend Dale Wallace officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be at Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery.
