Ms. Georgia “Carol” Cockman, 74, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Carol was born on October 9, 1948, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late George William Johnson and Sarah Frances Ingle Benfield.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dwight Wayne Johnson; and grandson, Jeremy Barber.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Gene Sides and wife Donna of Mt. Holly, and Red Sides of Mooresville; sisters, Ganell Bradford and husband Steve, and Audrey Miller and husband David; grandchildren, Heather Sides, Brooklyn Starnes and husband Jeremy, Brian Gibson and wife Crystal, David Gibson, and Shanna Barber; and great-grandchildren, Alexa Hooks, Bella Sides, Kinley Starnes, Kolton Starnes, Rylan Barber, Deegan Gibson, Shelby Gibson and Avery Gibson. Also surviving nieces and nephews Cydney “Dooddlebug,” Ryker Radford and Abigail Bradford and several special extended family members.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023, in the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rockwell Baptist Church Cemetery.
